2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 30th overall

Scouting Report. Jalen Mayfield. 30. Pick Analysis. OT. Michigan. player. 16

Most mock drafts seem to have a defender plugged in for the Buffalo Bills in the first round. With clear needs at cornerback and linebacker, that would certainly make sense for the team. That being said, do not sleep on the offensive line as a possible position of need for Buffalo in the 2021 NFL Draft.

This offseason, starting right tackle Daryl Williams and both current starting guards (Jon Feliciano and Ike Boettger) will hit free agncy. The return of Cody Ford will undoubtedly help but the Bills could easily be looking at the offensive line as a major area of need.

Here at No. 30 overall, the Bills make their offensive line a priority by adding Michigan right tackle Jalen Mayfield to the unit. Mayfield is a big offensive tackle prospect who wins with impressive power at the point of attack and displays impressive natural athleticism up front. He shows great movement skills for his size and does a fantastic job of maintaining balance throughout the play.

Mayfield is a high-level run blocker who commonly secures the first level and has the mobility to attack the second level with success as well. He also shows a ton of upside in pass protection, moving his feet quickly and stunning opposing rushers with a powerful initial punch.

The Bills could take Mayfield here and make him their immediate starter at the right tackle position. Pairing him with left tackle Dion Dawkins would give Buffalo a strong offensive tackle duo to build the unit around going forward. Josh Allen is the most important player on the Buffalo Bills and making a major investment here to help protect him would undoubtedly be a strong plan of attack.
