2021 NFL Draft: 49ers make aggressive move for QB in 3-round mock draft
2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 26th overall
The Cleveland Browns have been great this season and are undoubtedly a dangerous team in the AFC going forward. In order to reach their upside, the Browns need to continue to find playmakers on both sides of the ball and make additions at specific positions that impact the game in a big way. Having impact pass rushers who can attack the quarterback on a consistent basis is incredibly important in today’s NFL and the Browns find another here at No. 26.
Myles Garrett has quickly grown into one of the premier edge rushers in the entire NFL. However, with Olivier Vernon hitting free agency this offseason, Cleveland needs to find Garrett a potential long-term running-mate on the edge. Joseph Ossai stands out as a strong fit for the team here.
Ossai is a long and athletic edge rusher who can create consistent pressure around the corner with fantastic speed rush ability. He is a tremendous athlete on the edge who moves incredibly well in space and also shows solid power at the point of attack. Ossai’s primary value will come as a pass rusher but he has also played some off-ball linebacker which is also a major position of need for Cleveland. Even on a limited basis, Ossai could help the Browns fill that need at linebacker.
Simply put, Ossai is an impact defensive prospect who could immediately help take the Browns’ defense to the next level. He is a good value selection in this range and a perfect fit for Cleveland on the defensive side of the ball.
