2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 25th overall

Georgia. 25. 52. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Eric Stokes. player

This pick comes to the Jacksonville Jaguars via the Los Angeles Rams

With their quarterback/head coach combination of Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer secured, it is certainly tempting to give the Jaguars an exciting offensive weapon with this pick. That being said, I like the idea of the Jags primarily attacking their offensive needs in free agency.

This team needs to find impact offensive players who can help Lawrence succeed right away. That is more likely to happen in free agency and the Jaguars have a ton of cap space to work with this offseason. Look for Jacksonville to spend on the offensive side of the ball in free agency and use this pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to work on their defense.

In this mock draft, Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes stands out as a strong fit for the team. Stokes’ combination of length and athleticism on the outside is impressive. He is a smooth man coverage defender who mirrors opposing receivers extremely well and also shows impressive natural ball skill. On top of that, Stokes is an impressive zone coverage defender who reads the quarterback well and can bait the passer into making poor decisions.

Pairing Stokes with C.J. Henderson on the outside would give the Jaguars an exciting cornerback duo to build their defense around going forward. This kind of cornerback duo would have a significant chance to be special.
