2021 NFL Draft: 49ers make aggressive move for QB in 3-round mock draft
2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 10th overall
When doing these mock drafts, we obviously need to keep positions of need for teams in mind. That being said, sometimes you just need to have some fun and that is what we are doing with this pick right here. The Dallas Cowboys have many needs on the defensive side of the ball and could certainly use some offensive line depth as well. That being said, Kyle Pitts is a special playmaker at the tight end position who could make their offensive attack unstoppable.
Assuming the Cowboys are able to lock Dak Prescott down with a long-term extension over the offseason and he comes back healthy, building their offensive attack around their franchise quarterback makes plenty of sense. The Cowboys already have exciting playmakers in the passing game but Pitts could be the guy to take them over the top.
Pitts is an absolute matchup nightmare at the tight end position, proving too fast and athletic for most linebackers to defend and too big for most defensive backs. He is an explosive athlete who can stretch the field and create after the catch and also does a great job of using his wide catch radius to dominate in contested-catch situations.
Pitts does not bring much to the table as a blocker but he is undoubtedly an impact receiver at the tight end position. Sticking him in the Dallas offense along with Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup would give the Cowboys arguably the best group of offensive weapons in the entire NFL. If they also get Prescott back and healthy, this offense would be incredibly difficult for any defense to keep in check.
