2021 NFL Draft prospect stock up: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU

No player has raised his stock more this year than BYU’s Zach Wilson. Going into the season Wilson at best was an early day three draft prospect, but with an outstanding 2020 has raised his stock to a top-five draft pick.

The area he has improved the most this season is his decision-making ability, especially when it comes to turning over the ball. This season he has an 11 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio, which is a significant improvement over his 1.2 ratio of 2019. He has also improved his accuracy on the deep ball and is doing a better job of knowing when to take the deep shot.

One concern that showed up for him especially in the Coastal Carolina game is that he has trouble when facing pressure and tends to hang onto the ball too long waiting for plays to develop.

In my latest mock draft, I project Wilson to go to the New York Jets with the second overall draft pick. He would make sense here if the Jets decided to move on from Sam Darnold as he has the arm strength, attitude, and ability to make something out of nothing the team needs.
