Highlighted by the selection of Trevor Lawrence, this Jacksonville Jaguars seven-round 2021 NFL mock draft gives fans something to look forward to.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have locked up the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, which means Trevor Lawrence is looking up beachfront properties in Duval County. After months of it being a foregone conclusion that Lawrence would be going to New York, the Jets have somehow strung together back to back wins to help the Jaguars clinch the top spot.

As sad as it sounds, this is one of the most exciting times ever for Jacksonville fans. The selection of Trevor Lawrence will give the Jacksonville Jaguars their most talented and marketable quarterback in franchise history, and he provides hope that their history of losing could soon be over.

The Jags have a brutal history when it comes to quarterbacks. Mark Brunell is the only quarterback in team history that was a legitimate franchise player and even he is pretty low on the list if you were ranking the best quarterbacks in the history of each NFL team.

Since then, the Jacksonville Jaguars have been a turnstile for signal-callers. They have drafted Byron Leftwich, Blaine Gabbert, and Blake Bortles with top 10 picks, allowed Luke McCown, Chad Henne, Cody Kessler, and Mike Glennon to each start multiple games and signed Nick Foles to an $88 million contract only for him to go 0-4 and lose his job to Gardner Minshew, who is now 7-13 as a starter. When David Garrard is the second-best quarterback your team has ever had, you have had some really bad luck evaluating and developing quarterbacks.

Trevor Lawrence is the franchise quarterback that the city of Jacksonville and its long-suffering fan base deserve. When it comes time for Roger Goodell to make his way to his podium to say the words “With the first pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Trevor Lawrence” it will be the start of a new era of Jacksonville Jaguars football. An era of hope, an era of potential, an era that can finally give the team’s faithful fans something to be excited about.

This 2021 NFL mock draft is my attempt at the ideal scenario for what could happen when the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock next April.
