Round 3, 66th Overall

Pick Analysis. North Carolina. Javonte Williams. player. Scouting Report. RB. 3. 838

The Jets simply cannot spend another season with Frank Gore as their primary option at the running back position. In the third round of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Jets snag Javonte Williams, a bruising running back out of North Carolina.

Williams is a big and physical back who is incredibly difficult to bring down in space. While his game is primarily built on power, do not sleep on Williams’ ability to move. He is relatively elusive in space and shows impressive burst through the hole.

Pairing Williams with Fields in the Jets’ backfield would lead to an extremely dangerous duo on read-option plays. The New York Jets need to find a talented young back to help take some pressure off of their young quarterback and Williams stands out as a great fit.

Round 3, 89th Overall

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. S. Florida State. Hamsah Nasirildeen. 804. 3

Hamsah Nasirildeen has struggled with a variety of injuries throughout his college career, but he is an impact player when he is on the field. Nasirildeen is a long and athletic safety prospect who shines as an in-the-box defender. He shows great range on the defensive side of the ball and has plenty of exciting upside as a man-to-man defender. Simply put, Nasirildeen is a good football player who could quickly grow into a much-needed defensive playmaker for the Jets.

Round 4, 103rd Overall

Pick Analysis. Chase Lucas. 854. Scouting Report. CB. Arizona State. 4. player

Cornerback stands out as a major position of need for the New York Jets, but there simply was not a good spot for them to address the need early in this 2021 NFL mock draft. Instead, the Jets find value with the selection of Chase Lucas here in the fourth round.

Lucas is a talented cornerback prospect who changes directions quickly, shows solid press skills at the line of scrimmage and attacks the ball in the air extremely well. Lucas does not have number one cornerback kind of upside, but he is a talented player who could certainly make an impact for the jets on the defensive side of the ball.
