2021 NFL Draft 1st round, 26th overall

30. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. Minnesota. 26. player. Rashod Bateman

The Jets are sticking with Sam Darnold in this mock draft scenario. How likely is that? That’s hard to say, but if they are not getting Trevor Lawrence, it is much more likely than it was a week ago.

Regardless of what they do at the quarterback position, the Jets need to upgrade their weapons on offense.

Frank Gore is not a viable RB1 at this point in his career, and even with Denzel Mims showing tremendous promise as a rookie, the Jets need more receivers who can get open regularly.

Rashod Bateman has drawn some lofty comparisons to Keenan Allen, one guy who is pretty much always open.

Bateman’s a bit better of a natural athlete than Keenan Allen, but is similar in that he runs savvy routes and has strong hands to be a high-volume target in the passing attack.

With Mims’ big-play ability and Bateman’s ability to get open at every level of the field, the Jets’ passing game could take a huge leap in 2021, even with Darnold as the presumptive QB1.

The Jets have a variety of other picks to continue building up the roster which is one of the least talented from top to bottom in the NFL right now.
