2021 NFL Draft: Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson lead trade-filled mock draft
2021 NFL Draft 1st round, 10th pick
TRADE: Bears trade 16th pick and 3rd-round pick to Giants for 10th pick
No team has been a more popular trade-up candidate in my mock draft scenarios than the Chicago Bears.
The Bears went all-in just a couple of offseasons ago with Mitch Trubisky as their presumptive QB of the future by trading multiple years of first-round picks for Khalil Mack. I’m not sure they are poised to make that kind of investment in an unproven quarterback again, but you never know.
The Bears did not pick up Trubisky’s fifth-year option and despite the fact that he has had a couple of nice games lately, it would likely require a Tannehill-like run in the postseason for the Bears to consider keeping Trubisky on the franchise tag or something to see if he could keep progressing in 2021.
In this scenario, they move up for Trey Lance, one of the most talented prospects in this class coming out of North Dakota State.
The hype on Lance has been huge dating back to last season when he had 42 total touchdowns and zero interceptions. He didn’t look as polished in his lone game of 2020 against Central Arkansas, but Lance’s tools are undeniably all there.
He has a naturally strong arm with plenty of zip on his passes, he has played in a pro-style offense, and he can make plays with his legs.
The projection for Lance early on in the NFL could be similar to that of Josh Allen in Buffalo.
