Scouting Report. Mississippi State. Kylin Hill. 47. Pick Analysis. HB. 143. player

The New England Patriots’ running back room has always been a stable of various skill sets and hard-workers who need to fight for their spot on the roster. From season-to-season, any one of these players could be replaced by an incoming rookie if they offer more versatility or are more specialized than their incumbent teammate.

The three roles of New England running backs are the power-back (Damien Harris, LeGarrette Blount), the receiver (James White, Danny Woodhead), and typically a more balanced option which can supplement either of these crucial parts (Rex Burkhead, Dion Lewis).

With current balance-back Rex Burkhead seemingly on his way out of New England and receiving threat James White still due for a new contract, the New England Patriots will find themselves in need of young depth in their backfield.

Kylin Hill has been a multi-dimensional threat for the Bulldogs offense, packing lightning quickness into a compact package at 209 pounds. This quickness enables Hill to bounce shotgun handoffs to any gap and creates a significant mismatch in coverage against even the most athletic of linebackers.

Hill has also shown to be a legitimate receiving threat both behind and beyond the line of scrimmage, racking up 23 receptions in his three games of the 2020 season.
