Round 4, Pick 103

TE. Iowa State. Charlie Kolar. 4. player. 837. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

While the weapons on the Jaguars’ offense are more than sustainable for Fields, the tight end position leaves a lot to be desired. Tyler Eifert has had an injury-riddled career and James O’Shaughnessy isn’t a long-term answer. Enter Charlie Kolar.

While Kolar hasn’t necessarily racked up the yards, he’s been reliable in the red zone. Over 29 games with Iowa State, Kolar has 15 touchdowns, including seven during the 2019 season. Totaling 1,280 yards on 95 catches, Kolar is also averaging 13.5 yards per catch.

Being a fourth-round pick, there won’t be pressure on Kolar from the start, but he could be a great snag at this point for Jacksonville. He provides a much needed red-zone option and upgrades the tight end position.

Round 4, Pick 127

Shaka Toney. player. 806. Penn State. 4. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. EDGE

For the second time in this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars are able to get one of the players that I pointed out as a potential mid-round steal. Having a streaky season, Shaka Toney has shown flashes of what he could become at the NFL level.

Having been able to play 39 games at Penn State, Toney has made his most impact by getting into the backfield. He’s been able to log 27.5 tackles for loss while adding 19 sacks. Additionally, he’s forced four fumbles and shown an ability to drop into coverage if needed with four passes defended.

With Toney’s versatility, he fits into the mold of the edge rushers that Jacksonville likes to add, being along the lines of Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson. Toney would join the rotation with Allen and Chaisson and could provide a nice boost of energy on the field for the Jags.

Round 5, Pick 142

West Virginia. 5. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 877. DT. Dante Stills

What Shaka Toney would bring to the edge in Jacksonville, Dante Stills would have the ability to bring to the interior of the line. He would provide a rotational player with the ability to have an impact in little playing time.

At West Virginia, Stills has 29 games under his belt and has been able to register 27 tackles for loss over that time, including another 13 sacks. The 2020 season has been a bit of a step back for Stills with only two sacks compared to eight last year. That small dip could hurt his draft stock, but with an early pick in the fifth, Jacksonville can take a flier on him.

Round 5, Pick 167

RB. Arkansas. Rakeem Boyd. player. 844. Scouting Report. 5. Pick Analysis

James Robinson has been incredible for the Jaguars this season and was a true diamond in the rough addition. However, NFL teams need depth at all positions and running back is near the top of the list for priority for depth. Beyond Robinson, there isn’t much in the Jacksonville backfield.

Rakeem Boyd has had an interesting road that included being featured on Netflix’s Last Chance U, but his running style is similar to that of Robinson. Chris Thompson serves as the complement to Robinson, so Boyd would be the depth with the ability to step up should Robinson go down.

The 2020 season hasn’t been kind to Boyd, but his 2019 season better illustrates his potential. Over 12 games in 2019, Boyd totaled 1,133 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Like Stills, his regression could force him to fall, but the potential is there for a late-round steal.

Round 7, Pick 223

player. 838. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Dazz Newsome. North Carolina. 7. WR

The Jacksonville Jaguars start the final round of their 2021 NFL mock draft with another high-potential player that can contribute in multiple ways. The Jags’ wide receiver unit has a lot of strong players, but Dazz Newsome brings something different to the table that could grant him a roster spot.

During the 2019 season, Newsome tallied over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, but despite the offensive outburst at North Carolina this season, Newsome has been a shell of what we saw last year. However, his return ability could salvage his draft stock.

Newsome has been a returner for the Tar Heels for the last three seasons and even took a kick to the house in 2018. He averaged about 10.9 yards per kick return and 20.6 on punt returns, but that could be enough to turn heads late in the draft.

Round 7, Pick 245

882. Northwestern. Paddy Fisher. 7. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB

With the draft winding down, the Jacksonville Jaguars can opt to address a position they haven’t yet in this 2021 NFL mock draft, linebacker. There isn’t a dire need at the position, but another of my potential steals is still available in Paddy Fisher. If he falls this far, it’s well worth the chance.

Next. Potential first-round targets for Jaguars. dark

Fisher registered at least 100 tackles in each of his first two seasons at Northwestern, but he’s regressed the last two seasons which has hurt his draft stock. Regardless, the ability is there and this late in the draft Fisher could become one of the bigger steals in draft history if he can return to what we first saw from him.
