Entering the season, Jaylen Twyman was considered a player that had the potential to enter the conversation of being a first-round prospect. However, the 2020 season has yet to see Twyman play a snap and that has significantly hurt his draft stock. The lack of tape will hurt Twyman on draft night, but he should still have an impact once he hits the field.

At Pittsburgh, Twyman has played just 21 collegiate games, but that was enough to draw the attention of scouts last year. During the 2019 season, Twyman was able to record 10.5 sacks while also logging 12.5 tackles for loss, numbers that jump off the page. The catch is the sample size was small.

Sure, the 2019 season impressive for Twyman, but his 2018 season saw just half a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. On top of that, he had just 57 tackles total over his collegiate career.

Twyman’s ability to get into the backfield could be special based on his 2019 stats, but not having a 2020 season prove himself could really hurt him in the 2021 NFL Draft. There’s without a doubt potential there, but potential picks are middle round guys, not first round. For that reason, Twyman could end up being one of the biggest steals of the upcoming draft if his potential is as high as some believe it to be.
