Linebacker. 26. player. Notre Dame. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. 30. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The New York Jets have another selection to address yet another glaring hole in their roster. This time the Jets grab a linebacker, a desperate need after trading Avery Williamson.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is another rangy, athletic linebacker that sprints all over the field making plays. He has a high motor and plays with great burst. Once he sees a path to the ball he’s there in a flash.

Owusu-Koramoah wasn’t a MIKE backer for the Fighting Irish, rather playing outside and often covering tight ends and receivers. With that experience, he may be the best cover linebacker in the draft, filling a similar role in college to Akeem Davis-Gaither who came out of Appalachian State last year.

Even with his prowess in coverage, Owusu-Koramoah is not afraid to play downhill. He uses his speed and acceleration to make plays in the run game and is a ferocious finisher as a tackler.

A little on the smaller side, Owusu-Koramoah may need to add some weight to his frame if he really wants to bang with blockers in the run game. The willingness is there, but in order to find success, he may want to bulk up a bit.

The New York Jets have so many needs on their team that a versatile player like Owusu-Koramoah could almost kill two birds with one stone. He could play inside linebacker, outside linebacker blitzing off the edge, or even as a sort of big nickel.
