2021 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears trade up for QB in two-round mock draft
The Tennessee Titans defense is certainly not what it once was. A unit that not long ago was regarded as the strength of their team just allowed 38 first-half points to Baker Mayfield’s Cleveland Browns.
One issue that the Titans are facing is a lack of pressure on the opposing quarterback. Their Vic Beasley experiment failed and their one-year rental, Jadeveon Clowney, has never really been a big sack guy. Harold Landry has played well but the team needs more.
The sky is the limit for a player like Azeez Ojulari. This guy has all the tools to be a top edge rusher in the NFL. He has great size, length, bend, and burst. His raw athletic ability is off the charts.
Ojulari is excellent at knifing through the offensive line and finding a straight line to the quarterback. He gets a great jump off the snap, makes a simple move, and is at the quarterback in an instant.
While Ojulari will need to add some muscle to his frame to set a real strong edge and to take on blockers at the next level, he has experience dropping back in coverage, making him a perfect piece for Mike Vrabel’s 3-4 defense.
Still very raw, Ojulari needs to diversify his pass rush moves and continue to be a student of the game to make sure he is in the right place at the right time. But he has all the talent and potential in the world.
Ojulari reminds me a lot of a guy like K’Lavon Chaisson who was drafted rather high a year ago but has struggled this season as a rookie. The Titans will hope to develop their young piece quickly and have him contribute right away to their football team.
