Baltimore Ravens 7-round 2021 mock draft: Help for Lamar Jackson
Second-round pick
The Baltimore Ravens had to make the difficult decision earlier this year to let go of Earl Thomas.
Thomas signed a free agent contract with the Ravens in the 2019 offseason and looked like a tremendous pickup for them, but then came the 2020 offseason and Thomas had some bizarre off-field things going on that ultimately played a part in the Ravens moving on.
Not only did the Ravens move on, but no NFL team has picked up Thomas this season, establishing the validity of Baltimore’s decision and showing that the league is more concerned about Thomas than it initially seemed they might be.
As it is, the Ravens have gone from picking off 13 passes in 2019 to just six in 2020. That ranks 26th in the NFL.
Trevon Moehrig of TCU is one of the top single-high safety prospects in the class of 2021, and has 19 pass breakups and six interceptions over the course of his three seasons with the Horned Frogs.
He has great range on the back end and does a good job of reading the quarterback’s eyes and flying to the football.
For a Ravens defense struggling to pick off passes, he could be an asset on the back end.
