Eric Bieniemy

It’s honestly shocking that Eric Bieniemy isn’t already a head coach in the National Football League. Every year he is rumored to be a finalist, yet he doesn’t end up with a job. Even after a Super Bowl win, he’s back in Kansas City.

That could change going into the 2021 season. The New York Jets will be looking for a head coach who can work with Trevor Lawrence and Bieniemy has plenty of experience working with star quarterbacks.

Being part of the staff that has helped turn Patrick Mahomes into one of the best players in the league, Bieniemy should have no problem molding Lawrence into an NFL quarterback. The molding process shouldn’t take much given Lawrence’s ability, but he still needs a mentor in a coach to guide him through the transition.

In addition to Mahomes, Bieniemy has been the offensive coordinator for one of the most explosive offenses in the league. Both Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are near the top, if not the top, of their respective positions and few defenses have been able to keep up with the Chiefs.

Being under Andy Reid, the question about Bieniemy will be who the success belongs to in Kansas City. Reid does a lot with the offense and having a talent like Mahomes only helps the situation. Bieniemy still deserves a head coach spot, but that’s the main question mark when it comes to entering that role.
