2021 NFL Draft: Three-round 2021 NFL mock draft with top 10 surprises
2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 32nd Overall
The undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for a deep postseason run this year and appear to have things figured out on both sides of the ball. That being said, they will have some tough decisions to make over the offseason. The offensive tackle position could be hit particularly hard in free agency, making it a potential massive position of need in the 2021 NFL Draft.
With the premier offensive tackles in the class long gone, there is not an obvious choice for the Pittsburgh Steelers here. That being said, Jackson Carman stands out as a strong choice for the team and a worthy pick in this range.
Carman is a massive offensive lineman who has long arms and impressive power at the point of attack. He moves his feet well and knows how to use his length to his advantage in pass protection. He mirrors opposing edge rushers at an extremely high level and does a great job of anchoring in against power rushers.
Carman is solid in pass protection, but he really shines in the run game. He fires off of the ball quickly and shows a ton of power at the point of attack. Carman fires out with a strong initial punch and has incredibly impressive grip strength.
Simply put, Carman is a rock-solid offensive tackle prospect who could come in and provide stability for the Steelers at the position. Pittsburgh is going to lose some important offensive tackles in free agency and bringing in a guy like Carman would certainly help soften the blow.
