2021 NFL Draft: Round 1, 30th Overall

IOL. Oklahoma. 124. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Creed Humphrey. 30. player

It is always more fun to give the Kansas City Chiefs another exciting offensive playmaker (don’t worry, we will get to that later), but it makes more sense to secure the offensive line here. The Chiefs have mixed and matched their interior offensive line throughout most of the last two seasons, and while they have done a nice job of getting good play out of unlikely players, making a significant investment up front would certainly make sense for the team here.

Creed Humphrey may not be available for the Chiefs in this range, but if he is, they must pounce on the opportunity. Humphrey has a great combination of quickness and power at the center position, firing off of the ball quickly and driving his defender down the field seemingly with ease. Humphrey does a great of staying low and keeping his feet moving at all times.

Humphrey is also a smart offensive lineman who picks up on stunts and blitzes extremely well. He does a great job of communicating with his teammates and understands and takes care of his responsibility most of the time.

Nothing is more important for the Chiefs than protecting and keeping Patrick Mahomes healthy. Their offensive line as a whole is solid, but there is certainly room for improvement on the interior. If Humphrey is available when the Chiefs go on the clock, taking him feels like an easy decision for the team.
