Atlanta Falcons 2021 NFL Draft Need #2 – Cornerbacks

The secondary for the Atlanta Falcons has been completely berated by injuries over the last two years, but regardless they need more playmakers at the cornerback position.

They selected A.J. Terrell in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, which was a step in the right direction, but they will need many more players like him to complete the unit. While Terrell is a solid player, he’s just the first step in improving the unit.

In addition to the players that play this position being hurt this season, they will also potentially lose a few players in free agency as well. Both Darqueze Dennard and Blidi Wreh-Wilson are set to become free agents at the end of this season and have been main contributors this year, when healthy enough to play.

Even if Dennard and Wreh-Wilson resign, the Falcons will need to address the cornerback position once again in the draft. It’s starting to seem like a yearly occurrence, but until they can consistently stop offensive air attacks it will be a need every year. Now, if Dennard and Wreh-Wilson both leave, then this will without a doubt be the biggest need for the Falcons during the 2021 NFL Draft.
