Rookie running back Antonio Gibson had a breakout performance for the Washington Football Team on Sunday.

There was not much to be excited about for the Washington Football Team on Sunday. Falling 31-17 to the Baltimore Ravens, Washington now sits at 1-3 on the season. While they undoubtedly still have a chance in the weak NFC East, Washington is clearly a team in some sort of a rebuild process. Nothing is more important for the Washington Football Team than seeing their young players grow.

Rookie running back Antonio Gibson continues to grow into an exciting player for Washington and he had an exciting breakout performance against Baltimore. In the loss, Gibson carried the ball 13 times for 46 yards and a touchdown. More impressively, Gibson was able to haul in four receptions for 82 yards.

His most impressive play came in the second quarter when Gibson lined up out wide, took a quick screen pass and exploded forward for a 40-yard gain. Gibson showed impressive burst and elusiveness on the play and it was exciting to see Washington use his versatile skill-set with extreme success.

Versatile Gibson should continue to shine for Washington Football Team

Gibson played his college ball at Memphis. While he was primarily looked at as a running back prospect for the next level, he mostly played wide receiver at Memphis. With impressive playmaking ability with the ball in his hands, Gibson has an exciting well-rounded skill-set. Just get this guy the ball in space and let him do some work. That is exactly what Washington did on Sunday and Gibson rewarded them with an impressive performance.

Whether Dwayne Haskins ends up being their franchise quarterback or not, there is a lot to like about the Washington Football Team offense going forward. In particular, the playmaking duo of Gibson and Terry McLaurin is extremely exciting and gives Washington an offensive identity for the near future.
