Chase Young has been lighting it up for the Washington Football Team.

The Washington Football Team earned the number two overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but thanks to the annual demand for quarterbacks, they were gifted quite likely the best and most impactful player (at least immediately) in the entire rookie class.

That player, of course, is former Ohio State defensive end Chase Young.

Young was a marvel in his three seasons at Ohio State, showing off outstanding speed, quickness, athleticism, strong hands, and a very well-rounded game overall.

Not every college pass rusher has the type of skill set you see from Chase Young, whose play recognition skills are up there with anyone you will watch on Saturdays.

His game has been instantly translatable to the NFL level, and he’s proving the Washington Football Team made a tremendous investment by leading the NFL with 2.5 sacks through two games.

As a matter of fact, Washington’s plethora of investments in the first-round on their defensive front seven have been paying off in the early goings of the 2020 season.

Now with 11 sacks and 14 tackles for loss in the first two games overall, Washington’s defensive front seven looks like a force to be reckoned with, and that particular unit is going to help Ron Rivera turn this ship around quickly.

It’s not out of the question at this point to think that Chase Young is already his best player, either.

Young has too much strength and quickness off the edge to be contained regularly in passing situations, and he’s also very aware when offenses are trying to take advantage of his aggressive style of play.

While the Washington Football Team is certainly going to take some lumps throughout the 2020 season, having a stout defensive front and a consistent pass rush is one of the best ways for teams to stay competitive over the long haul of 16 games.

Leading up to the 2020 NFL Draft, it really felt as though having Rivera come in as the head coach with Chase Young as his top pick would help Washington turn things around sooner rather than later.
