2021 NFL Draft: Bears land top pick in preseason 2021 NFL mock draft

2021 NFL Draft Round 1, Pick 1 (Chicago Bears, 2-14)
There are a few teams this year that appear to be in tanking mode to try and land Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson and this case, I see the Chicago Bears taking the first pick in 2021.
For the Bears, there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding their offense this year. They aren’t sure who will be under center all year between Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles while their leading running back David Montgomery is battling injury issues. The receiving corps presents more question marks beyond Allen Robinson while the defense will be the only bright spot.
Having traded this past year’s pick in the Khalil Mack trade, the Bears are starring down their second first-round quarterback over their last three first-round picks after taking Trubisky second overall in 2017. Just a reminder that pick could have been Pat Mahomes or Deshaun Watson.
Luckily, the Bears’ luck could change here. Lawrence has the potential to be a top tier talent in the conversation with Mahomes and Lamar Jackson in just a few short years. The talent is there and whoever has the first pick would be out of their mind to pass on him.
No matter what happens during the 2020 season, in college or the NFL, Trevor Lawrence should be the top pick. There’s a chance he tumbles like others before him, but whoever gets the first pick needs to take Lawrence, and in this case, it’s Chicago.
