Running back (3, 8/53)

  • 1. Leonard Fournette
  • 2. Chris Thompson
  • 3. Ryquell Armstead

In a move that surprised few, the Jacksonville Jaguars decided not to pick up Leonard Fournette’s fifth-year option, meaning this is his final year under contract with the team. He will go into 2020 as the starter for the fourth straight season and has a lot to prove, not only to the Jaguars but other potential suitors as well.

Outside of Fournette, the Jags brought in Chris Thompson, who was the third-down back for Jay Gruden’s entire tenure with the Washington Redskins. He adds that change of pace, pass-catcher that Jacksonville didn’t have on the roster.

2019 fifth-round pick Ryquell Armstead should also see increased action after limited reps as a rookie.

I don’t expect to see Devine Ozigbo back with the team in 2020 and the group of backs the Jags brought in as undrafted free agents should all be competing to land on the practice squad.
