Outside Linebackers (5, 40/53)

  • 1. Markus Golden (predicted)
  • 2. Kyler Fackrell
  • 3. Oshane Ximines
  • 4. Lorenzo Carter
  • 5. Carter Coughlin

So, Markus Golden isn’t technically on the team yet, but it seems that his return is still possible. The Giants signed Golden to an unrestricted free agent tender. This means that if he does not sign with another team by a certain date, then he can only play for the Giants.

That date is in a little over a month, but it does not seem like there have been many suitors for Golden. Golden was the team sack leader with 10 sacks last year.

The rest of the bunch will all look to compete for playing time. Fackrell could have an advantage as he played under defensive coordinator Patrick Graham when he coached for Green Bay in 2018. That year Fackrell had a career-high 10.5 sacks.

Ximines and Carter were on the team last season. Combined, they had eight sacks. Ximines showed flashes in his rookie year while Carter made no real jump from the previous season. They will both need to improve to see the field more.

Carter Coughlin might have been a seventh-round pick, but look for him to make the roster. In his college career, he had a total of 22.5 sacks and 40.5 tackles for a loss.
