Quarterback (3, 3/53)

  • 1. Daniel Jones
  • 2. Colt McCoy
  • 3. Cooper Rush

The torch has officially been passed! Even though Jones took Eli Manning’s starting position in week three of the regular season, Manning is finally gone and not lurking on the sideline. Manning finally retired after winning two Super Bowls for the Giants, thus signifying a changing of the guards.

Jones had a solid season as a rookie; he threw for a little over 3,000 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Jones has shown flashes that he could be a solid starter in the league. One thing he must improve upon is his fumbling issue. Jones fumbled a total of 18 times and turned the ball over on 11 of those fumbles.

Behind Jones, expect the nine-year veteran Colt McCoy to be the back-up. McCoy, who spent his previous 5 seasons with the Redskins, will bring some experience to the quarterback room. He can also help Jones to show him what it is like to be in the NFL.

Lastly, Cooper Rush should make the roster as the third-string. Rush has spent the past three seasons in Dallas. There, he played under the new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. He’s comfortable with his playbook and will be able to help Jones get comfortable in the new system.

Special Teams (3, 6/53)

  • 1. Aldrick Rosas (K)
  • 2. Riley Dixon (P)
  • 3. Casey Kreiter (LS)

The Giants did not bring in any other kickers, or punters, to compete in training camp. So, expect Riley Dixon and Aldrick Rosas to start. Both were solid last year for an improved special teams unit.

The G-men also lost 13-year long snapper, Zak DeOssie, to retirement. The longtime Giant played in both Super Bowls 42 and 46. He will be replaced by Casey Kreiter. Kreiter was a Pro Bowl long snapper in 2018 and delivered 146 straight snaps that year.
