The Dallas Cowboys have a pretty deep group of players off the edge and on the defensive line in general.
DeMarcus Lawrence is the team’s alpha in the pass rush department, but the team went out and replaced Robert Quinn with a combination of players in the offseason.
Most notable among them was Aldon Smith, who has been out of football for four years and has served a variety of suspensions throughout his career.
The Cowboys took a reasonable risk signing Smith to a one-year deal worth $2 million with another $2 million in incentives, and they have Jim Tomsula on the staff as a familiar face for Smith to work with.
The team also drafted Bradlee Anae in 2020, an absolute robbery in the fifth round.
The newcomers to the interior defensive line are perhaps the most intriguing with veterans Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe along with rookie Neville Gallimore giving the Cowboys a very athletic and smart group of players to rush the passer.
Will Randy Gregory be reinstated? If not, one of Joe Jackson or Dorance Armstrong could be candidates to crack the final roster.
