2021 NFL Draft: Washington Redskins get top pick in new mock draft
By Kyle Edmond
3. Chicago Bears: Gregory Rousseau, Edge Rusher, Miami (FL)
The Bears are quickly finding out that Mitchell Trubisky isn’t the answer, but with the addition of Nick Foles they don’t have much wiggle room for another quarterback. Even if they have a 3-13 season, which is where I projected them, they could still try the Foles route for a full season.
Foles has proven he can be impactful at times and a full season could be worth the try. Worst case, the Bears are back in the same position in the 2022 draft while the best case is Foles works out and they can move on with him under center.
And for that reason, they go with Rousseau here. Khalil Mack is already a force unlike many others and now adding a top tier prospect to the mix, the Bears defense could become lethal. This is by no means their biggest need in the 2021 NFL Draft, but it’s a type of pick that can be very hard to pass on.
When Chicago had success a few years ago it was due in large part to their defense. Adding Rousseau pushes them closer to that framework once again and could buy Matt Nagy more time to find the long-term answer at quarterback, should still be the coach after a 3-13 season.
