2. Miami Dolphins: Penei Sewell, Offensive Tackle, Oregon

The Dolphins are in full rebuild mode and hold two picks in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft after having three this year. It makes the most sense for them to essentially redshirt Tua Tagovailoa and allow Ryan Fitzpatrick to gain them another high draft pick.

Tua could use the extra time to recover and there should be no rush to get him on the field in Miami. As a whole, the Dolphins aren’t ready to compete for the playoffs, so the 3-13 season I have them projected at would be perfect to build around Tua. Fitzpatrick could possibly snag a few more wins, but having this pick be in the top 10 would be ideal for Miami and I don’t see Fitzpatrick going beyond that mark.

Miami invested in the line this year, but with quarterback taken care of and Sewell on the board, the opportunity is too great to pass up. With Tua healthy in a year and then the protection of Sewell added on, the Dolphins would be poised for a big leap, especially if they can add a playmaker weapon either in free agency or later in this draft.

The assets are there for the Dolphins to get this right, it will just take patience and some losing along the way.
