New York Giants’ projected win total: 6.6
Marvin Wilson 2019 stats: 44 total tackles (8.5 for loss), 5 sacks, 4 passes defended and 1 forced fumble.

I struggled a bit with who to give the New York Giants here at No. 3 in this mock draft. This team hopes to have fixed their offensive line with the addition of Andrew Thomas in the 2020 NFL Draft and I don’t see them completely giving up on Daniel Jones yet. An edge rusher could be an option and I could also see a wide receiver here.

That being said, Marvin Wilson is simply too good of a 2021 NFL Draft prospect to ignore and the Giants could end up having a massive need on the interior of their defensive line when the 2021 NFL Draft comes around.

Leonard Williams will likely play the 2020 season under the franchise tag and Dalvin Tomlinson’s contract will also be up after the upcoming season. The Giants could easily lose Williams and Tomlinson in free agency next offseason and look to find an interior defensive line replacement in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Wilson has an explosive first step and a ton of natural power on the inside. He is a dominant two-gap defender who also shows some exciting upside as a one-gap penetrator. Wilson would be an immediate upgrade over both Tomlinson and Williams and would give the Giants a potential game-wreaker on the inside.

Taking Wilson here may be considered a reach by some, but he is an incredibly talented player who has a bright future at the next level and we know how much Dave Gettleman loves to build through the trenches. In this mock draft, the Giants find a true defensive centerpiece up front.
