2021 NFL Draft: Trey Lance lands in top five of way-too-early mock draft
Detroit Lions’ projected win total: 7.4
Justyn Ross 2019 stats: 66 receptions for 865 yards and 8 touchdowns.
The Detroit Lions could easily look to the defensive line here, as they have needs both on the edge and on the interior. Depending on how Matthew Stafford plays in 2020, a quarterback could be an option for this team as well if the right prospect is available in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, in this mock draft, the Lions find themselves an exciting pass-catcher on the outside.
Wide receiver is a sneaky need for this team with both Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay hitting free agency next offseason. I am sure that the Lions will do everything in their power to bring back Golladay, but nobody would be surprised to see Jones move on. If the Lions do not bring back one or both of their top receivers, this position will be a priority in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Justyn Ross is a big and physical target who shows soft hands and incredible body control on the outside. He is an impressive contested-catch receiver who has a wide catch radius and does a great job of catching the ball away from his body.
Ross is not an overly quick or shifty receiver, but he does have good speed and does a great job of separating on the deep ball. This guy is a true playmaker on the outside who should be able to make an immediate impact at the next level. If the Lions could sign Golladay to an extension and get in position to take Justyn Ross in the 2021 NFL Draft, they would have an exciting young duo at the wide receiver position to build their entire offense around.
