Undrafted wide receiver Quartney Davis has a great chance to be an impact playmaker for the Minnesota Vikings.

It happens every single year. A handful of prospects always fall later in the NFL Draft than we expect and some even get passed up through all seven rounds and out of the draft. Value can undoubtedly be found late in the NFL Draft every single year.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, we saw projected first-round offensive tackle Josh Jones fall to the Arizona Cardinals in the third and productive edge rusher Bradlee Anae fall to the Dallas Cowboys with the last pick of the fifth round. Both of these were fantastic picks that could pay off in a major way for these teams. When it comes to undrafted talent, no player stood out more than former Texas A&M wide receiver Quartney Davis. And his landing spot with the Minnesota Vikings is absolutely perfect.

After trading away Stefon Diggs this offseason, the Vikings entered the 2020 NFL Draft with an obvious hole at the wide receiver position. They immediately addressed that need with the selection of Justin Jefferson in the first round and Jefferson will likely come in and be an immediate starter for this team. The Vikings also took wide receiver K.J. Osborn with one of their 11 Day 3 selections (fifth round, 176th overall). That being said, I still like Davis’ ability to come in and make an impact on this team.

Davis put up solid production in college, piling up 99 receptions for 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns through his two years at Texas A&M. He did most of his damage out of the slot and will be a productive player at that position at the next level if he is given a legitimate opportunity to compete.

Davis is a sharp and precise route runner who always gets to his spots. He is quick in and out of his breaks and shows soft, reliable hands. Davis is also naturally elusive in the open field, shows is an absolute technician of a route runner out of the slot and a tough player who is not afraid to make plays over the middle.

The Minnesota Vikings took Jefferson in the first round and he made most of his plays out of the slot in college as well. Veteran Adam Thielen can also make an impact at the position. While their depth at slot receiver seems solid, the Vikings lack true quality depth throughout the wide receiver position. Davis is simply too strong of a weapon out of the slot to be ignored by a team that needs playmakers at the wide receiver position.

I fully expect Davis to impress on the practice field and eventually force his way onto the active roster for the Minnesota Vikings. He knows how to get open and can make plays with the ball in his hands. Undrafted or not, there is certainly room for Quartney Davis to make an impact in Minnesota.
