Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Tight End. Brycen Hopkins. 136. Purdue. player. 51

The Los Angeles Rams were originally slated to pick at 126 but the New England Patriots offered them picks 136, 248, and 250 to take that pick off their hands. LA happily accepted the chance to add some extra depth late in the draft and after moving back 10 spots in the fourth, the Rams took another potential weapon for Jared Goff and the Sean McVay offense in Brycen Hopkins out of Purdue.

Hopkins was largely considered one of the top targets in a weak tight end class but ended up being the ninth player taken off the board at the position. He isn’t a traditional inline tight end target but should see success as a big slot or H-back option, similar to how the Rams use Gerald Everett.

This is a nice fit, but I do question the decision to go with a luxury pick over needs for depth on the offensive line and linebacker.

51. Ohio State. Jordan Fuller. 199. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Safety

After the retirement of Eric Weddle, the Los Angeles Rams added some needed depth at the safety position with the selection of Ohio State’s Jordan Fuller with the 199th overall pick in the sixth-round.

Fuller was a three-year starter with the Buckeyes and excels in run support. Although he doesn’t have the speed or change of direction skills to play deep, he could find a role in the box and should be an immediate contributor on special teams.

His experience, size, and physical style of play make him a good developmental depth piece to snag this late in the sixth-round.
