Round 6

832. Scouting Report. 203. player. Offensive Tackle. Oregon State. Blake Brandel. Pick Analysis

The Minnesota Vikings began focusing on depth in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and added their second offensive tackle in Oregon State prospect, Blake Brandel. Brandel was a four-year starter for the Beavers and spent time at both left and right tackle. Brandel started 48 consecutive games for Oregon State and earned Second Team PAC-12 honors his final season in Corvallis.

Brandel is a smart player that appears to be making a move to guard in the NFL. Brandel has the frame but needs to increase his size to make any kind of impact at the next level. He should be seen as a developmental player the Minnesota Vikings could use as depth at tackle or a big guard. As an underrated four-year starter in college, Brandel appears to be worth the late-round flier.

Grade: B

Safety. Josh Metellus. 811. Scouting Report. Michigan. 205. player. Pick Analysis

The Minnesota Vikings went back to the secondary adding their first true safety of the draft in Josh Metellus. Metellus broke into the Michigan team as a true freshman and earned a starting safety role in Don Brown‘s talented Michigan defense where he would make 37 starting appearances as.

Metellus was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree and earned a first-team All-Big Ten as a safety in 2018. Metellus finished his Michigan career with five interceptions and a forced fumble.

With the departures of backup safeties Jayron Kearse and Andrew Sendejo, the Vikings needed to add depth behind Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris. Metellus is a smart and well-coached player and is a solid tackler. As a sixth-round pick, Metellus can add depth if not anything else while the Vikings work on a new contract with Anthony Harris.
