2020 NFL Draft: Green Bay Packers post-draft grades
With the underwhelming Jimmy Graham era now over in Green Bay, it’s no surprise that the Packers took a tight end on Day 2. What was a surprise was that the tight end they chose was former Cincinnati Bearcat, Josiah Deguara. This is not so much a knock on the player, as much as it is on the value, but Deguara was yet another reach with the 94th overall pick.
He is an undersized player that fits more as an H-back than an inline tight end and while I love his physicality, hands, and fit with Green Bay, the Packers yet again overdraft a player they probably could have gotten later.
Grade: C+
At this point, I want to just pretend I like one of these picks just to give the Packers a break but they did this to themselves. While depth at inside linebacker was needed, Kamal Martin was an underwhelming choice.
Martin was a team captain with the Gophers and plays with a hot motor but does not have the read and react skills, nor the coverage ability to be anything more than a special teamer and rotational player on early downs. The pick is made even more frustrating by Justin Strnad going just three picks later.
