2020 NFL Draft: Green Bay Packers post-draft grades
After being blindsided in the first-round, Packers fans hoped that the board would fall their way in the second to potentially land the offensive weapon they had hoped for on Day-1. When it came time for Green Bay to make their selection, many of the top names were gone but they did have their choice of popular prospects like Lynn Bowden Jr., Bryan Edwards, or Devin Duvernay.
So, naturally, the Green Bay Packers decided to take Boston College running back, A.J. Dillon with the 62nd overall pick.
Not only was this more of a surprise than the Love pick, but there were a lot of better running backs still on the board, most notably Zack Moss and Darrynton Evans.
While Dillon had a really productive collegiate career, he also has a lot of miles on his body. With over 800 carries in just three years, running backs like Dillon do not have a great track record at the next level. He’s an old school style back that showed little as a pass catcher and will likely be limited to short-yardage duties at the next level.
This was yet again a pick for the future, as both Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams are on expiring contracts, but it was laughably high for a running back that could have gone undrafted and nobody would have batted an eye.
