Make no mistake about it, the Seattle Seahawks reached for Darrell Taylor in the 2020 NFL Draft.

It does not surprise me that the Seattle Seahawks continue to confuse us with their 2020 NFL Draft selections. John Schneider, Pete Carroll and company stick to their board and they do not care about what any of us think.

Still, pretty much nobody liked them taking Jordyn Brooks in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft and them trading up for Darrell Taylor here at No. 48 is equally confusing. With Brooks, the Seattle Seahawks did not fill an immediate need. That is always a disappointing move for a team that is ready to compete for a Super Bowl right now. Taking the edge rusher Taylor here fills a need for the team, but he is a reach in this range.

Taylor has plenty of upside as an outside pass rusher, getting off of the ball quickly and showing impressive bend around the edge. However, Taylor is far too inconsistent of a player who will tends to disappear far too often. Taylor undoubtedly has nice athleticism and upside, but he is not a guy who you can count on to make a consistent impact.

Taylor may be able to come in and make an impact as a situational rusher, but they should not be even thinking about him as an everyday player anytime soon. The Seahawks have a strong developmental staff and they could do wonders with his raw athletic upside, but based on his tape, I am not overly impressed with this selection.

Not only did the Seahawks reach for a developmental prospect with this pick, they gave up extra draft capital to trade up and do so. The Seattle Seahawks have proved us wrong before, but I am not impressed with their first two picks in the 2020 NFL Draft class.
