2020 NFL Draft: Putting a letter grade on all 32 first-round picks
Out of all of the talented offensive tackles in the 2020 NFL Draft class, nobody has a higher ceiling than Mekhi Becton. Becton is a massive man (6-foot-7, 364 pounds) who shows incredible raw power in all aspects of his game. He is an incredibly physical run blocker and anchors well in pass protection.
While his size and power are obvious, Becton also shows incredible quickness and athleticism for a man or his size. Simply put, a guy that big should not be able to move as well as Becton does.
There are some technical aspects of his game that need to be cleaned up (especially in pass protection), but Becton is an extremely exciting prospect who has the potential to be a multi-time All Pro at the next leve. The Jets get Sam Darnold a much-needed blindside protector with this pick.
2020 NFL Draft Grade: B+
Al Davis was undoubtedly looking down with a big smile on his face when the Las Vegas Raiders made this pick. Henry Ruggs III is the fastest and most explosive player in the 2020 NFL Draft class and undoubtedly has incredible upside at the next level. While his tremendous raw speed, quickness and athleticism will get most of the attention, Ruggs is also a complete football player who should translate quickly to the next level.
He is a precise route runner who knows how to use his physical gifts to get open. Ruggs also shows soft hands and obviously knows how to create after the catch. He is an incredible deep threat but also has the toughness to make plays across the middle. Make no mistake about it, Ruggs is a tremendous natural playmaker who will be an immediate difference-maker for the Raiders at a major position of need.
