Safety

The Bears are looking for their third starting safety in just two years after losing Adrian Amos to division rival Green Bay last year and former starter HaHa Clinton-Dix to Dallas this offseason in free agency.

LSU’s Grant Delpit is arguably one of the best players available overall, and surely the best safety available. If he’s not available when the Bears are on the clock at 43, players like Alabama’s Xavier McKinney who some thought could go in round one could be an option to pair with Pro Bowler Eddie Jackson.

Local talent Jeremy Chinn of Southern Illinois has garnered quite the Pre-Draft buzz and could be a legitimate option for Chicago in round 2.

Offensive Line

The offensive line was subpar last year to put it nicely. With the retirement of Kyle Long, the Bears are in immediate need of his long-term replacement. The team signed veteran Germain Ifedi in free agency, but the former first-round pick from Seattle who led the league in penalties (16) in 2017 isn’t considered a long-term option.

Michigan’s Cesar Ruiz was the lone interior offensive lineman selected in the first round, but there could be a run of interior selections on Day 2.

If the Bears were to opt to draft a tackle, it’s unlikely that Houston’s Josh Jones would be available. Jones is a first-round talent and could be picked as early as 33 on Friday. Players like Ezra Cleveland from Boise State and Auburn’s Prince Tega Wanogho could be options for Chicago.

When looking at the top interior offensive lineman available, Louisiana-Lafayette’s Robert Hunt leads the group of best available, followed by Ohio State’s Jonah Jackson.

An interior line of Daniels-Whitehair-Hunt would look awfully nice in front of (psst..It’s going to be Nick Foles at QB) and David Montgomery.
