Scouting Report. player. 52. Pick Analysis. Edge. Miami (FL). Jonathan Garvin.

One of the biggest indicators for future success for edge rushers is pass-rushing production in college. Jonathan Garvin has had that, particularly last season. While he didn’t record a high sack total, he still consistently pressured the quarterback.

My concerns about Garvin are that he struggles against the run and he’s average as an athlete. At Miami, he lined up almost exclusively outside the tackle as a 4-3 defensive end and he pretty much always rushed the passer in passing situations and didn’t drop into coverage. Garvin should do that same thing when he gets on the field in the NFL because it’s what he’s best at. While he probably won’t develop into a starter in the NFL, he’s someone who can get situational pass-rushing snaps.

Iowa. Michael Ojemudia. . player. CB. Pick Analysis. 52. Scouting Report

Michael Ojemudia is a corner with good size (6-1, 200 lb) except he doesn’t rely on physicality. He plays a lot off his man in coverage relying on his instincts to make a play either on the ball or a quick tackle if he can’t make a play on the ball. The Jaguars are weak are corner, so they’ll probably want to address the position earlier in the draft, but even if they do, Ojemudia would still be an excellent addition as a fourth or fifth-round pick.

He’s someone who gets beat a decent amount short, but rarely gets beat deep. In fact according to PFF, last season he only allowed one reception which 20 plus yards in the air from the line of scrimmage. This is what you want in fringe starting/backup caliber corners, someone who may get beat, but will rarely give up big plays.
