OT. 13. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. USC. Austin Jackson. 31. player

The 49ers seem incredibly likely to sell the 31st overall pick. After this selection, they have no picks until the fifth round.

They will want to try to recoup some of those assets and in this case, the Niners are able to move down just a handful of spots and get back a high fourth-round selection.

For the Chargers, this move makes a lot of sense.

You keep your third-round pick and you ensure the final first-round caliber offensive tackle on the board. The Chargers traded Russell Okung this offseason and signed Bryan Bulaga to play right tackle alongside Trai Turner at right guard, who came over in the Okung trade. The left tackle position is the only unsettled spot on the Chargers’ line right now, and Jackson could step in and start as a rookie.

He would certainly take his lumps as he’s not quite where he needs to be in terms of his ability to take on power off the edge consistently, but Jackson is athletic and has huge upside.
