Los Angeles Chargers pass on QB early in 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft
The 2020 NFL Draft is absolutely loaded with talent at the wide receiver position and that will cause some extremely talented receivers to slip. In this mock draft, Donovan Peoples-Jones falls down the board a bit and the Los Angeles Chargers scoop him up with their third-round selection.
Peoples-Jones is a big and athletic receiver who shows soft hands and tremendous run after catch ability. He is a physical player in the air who shines in contested-catch situations and does a nice job of making plays along the sideline. Peoples-Jones is not the most refined route-runner and his college production was mediocre, but he is a talented player who could quickly grow into an impact playmaker at the next level.
A wide receiver trio of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Peoples-Jones could be special.
The Los Angeles Chargers signed Chris Harris Jr. from the Denver Broncos this offseason. Pairing him with Derwin James, Casey Hayward and Desmond King gives the Chargers an exciting secondary with a ton of upside for the 2020 season. However, they lack impact depth on the back-end and could certainly look to address their cornerback situation in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Michael Ojemudia lacks ideal speed and quickness at the cornerback position, but he is a smart and aggressive player who shines in zone coverage. He reads the opposing quarterback extremely well and shows tremendous natural ball skills. One would never want to line Ojemudia up one-on-one on the outside, but he undoubtedly has plenty of value as a zone coverage outside cornerback at the next level.
