WR. South Carolina. Bryan Edwards. 850. Pick Analysis. 98. player. Scouting Report

The New England Patriots struggled to find consistent targets for Brady in the passing game last season. The 2020 NFL Draft class is loaded at the wide receiver position and the Pats must look to address the position at some point.

They find Bryan Edwards, a big-bodied receiver out of South Carolina, here in the third round. Edwards is not the most explosive receiver on the outside, but he is a physical player who shows impressive contested-catch ability. Edwards has a wide catch radius and he uses his body well to shield defenders. He also shows a bit of run after catch upside. Edwards is a talented receiver who could become a real playmaker for the Pats if he can learn the offense quickly.

player. Scouting Report. LSU. Saahdiq Charles. 817. Pick Analysis. OT. 100

While offensive tackle may not stand out as a major immediate need for this team, left tackle Isaiah Wynn has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career and the team could easily move on from right tackle Marcus Cannon next offseason if they wish. Saahdiq Charles lacks ideal functional strength, but he is a long and athletic offensive tackle who has massive pass protection upside at the next level.

Charles would not be brought in to make an immediate impact, but he could grow into an extremely valuable asset for the Patriots down the line.

player. Pick Analysis. Clemson. John Simpson. 125. Scouting Report. IOL. 879

The interior offensive line could be a strength for the New England Patriots in 2020, but there are some serious questions at the positions as well. Their starting interior trio of Joe Thuney, David Andrews and Shaq Mason could be incredible, but Thuney is playing on the franchise tag, Andrews missed all of 2019 with blood clots in his lungs and Mason was not near as impressive last season as he was in the past.

Here, they address potential needs on the interior with the selection of John Simpson out of Clemson. Simpson lacks ideal foot quickness up front, but he is a big and powerful man who absolutely dominates at the point of attack. Simpson has extremely heavy hands, clears out lanes in the run game with ease and is a solid overall pass protector. If nothing else, he could help bring interior offensive line stability to the Patriots.
