Willie Gay Jr. 2020 NFL Draft

There are some off-field issues that need to be cleared with Willie Gay Jr., but he is a freak of an athlete for the linebacker position if I’ve ever seen one.

This graph shows the type of rare speed and explosiveness Gay has as a 6-foot-1, 243-pound linebacker prospect.

He was limited to five games in 2019 because he violated the NCAA academic policy and he was also reportedly involved in an altercation late in the season with his own team’s quarterback.

Although he’s a bit of a risk, Gay has the traits and tape to be a much higher pick than 74th overall. He’s not only effective in space and in coverage but he’s also capable of being a dynamic presence on third down as a blitzer.

This guy definitely has the tools to be a stud linebacker in the NFL if he can keep it together off the field.
