2020 NFL Draft: Four-Round 2020 NFL mock draft with exciting trades
Offensive tackles just went off of the board with back-to-back picks, but there is still a player at the position worth taking here for the Cleveland Browns. With his impressive movement skills and experience in a zone-blocking system, Tristan Wirfs may even be the preferred option for the Browns here at No. 10.
Cleveland aggressively added to their offensive line already this offseason, signing Jack Conklin to a three-year deal worth $42 million. Conklin will now come in and solidify the right tackle position for the Browns, but they still have a hole at left tackle. Filling that hole should be the Browns’ number one priority in the 2020 NFL Draft and Wirfs is a player who can come in and get the job done.
Wirfs is a big, powerful and athletic offensive lineman who consistently shined at Iowa. He primarily played right tackle for the Hawkeyes but did play some left tackle as well last season. Wirfs is a mean and nasty run blocker who can absolutely dominate at the point of attack. He is quick off of the ball, shows an extremely powerful lower half and has tremendous natural grip strength.
Wirfs also moves extremely well in space and that fits what the Browns want to do extremely well. Under new head coach Kevin Stefanski, the Browns are going to implement a wide-zone rushing scheme, which fits Wirfs’ skill-set perfectly. He is an extremely talented player who fits the system well and would fill a major need. If Wirfs is on the board at No.10, this should be an easy decision for Cleveland.
