2. Jeff Thomas, Miami

This one I’m sure will get some eye rolls. Jeff Thomas is a very solid football player, there is no doubt about that. The issue here is Thomas has just been an absolute pest to coach during his football career.

Thomas has had issues with coaching staffs as far back as his time in high school. He then was suspended multiple times at the U, then ultimately was dismissed from the team, all for violation of team rules.

Manny Diaz then convinced Thomas to rejoin the program when Diaz became Miami’s new head coach. Just when you thought Thomas was turning a corner in his career, he got suspended yet again this season, for yes, violating team rules.

Thomas would normally be around a 3rd-4th round prospect, but his stock has taken a nosedive due to all of the problems that surround him. If an organization can turn a troubled guy such as Thomas around, it would be the Indianapolis Colts. Chris Ballard and Frank Reich are seemingly world-class people, and can hopefully help Thomas overcome all the problems he has created during his career up to this point.

Thomas on the field has great football speed and is a truly gifted route runner. He is also an absolute burner in the open field and is a great deep threat option. He has decent hands and for a guy, his frame is very talented at going up and getting the football.

From a football standpoint, he reminds me a lot of Brandin Cooks. Thomas will probably be available in the sixth or seventh round, making him a very low-end investment, but allowing for a great return if he can get his act together.
