Pick Analysis. IDL. Oklahoma. Neville Gallimore. 35. 50. Scouting Report. player

Over the last couple of offseasons, the Detroit Lions have consistently brought in players who they are familiar with. When push comes to shove, Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia have been consistently targeting players who they worked with when they were with the New England Patriots. I could see that trend continuing in a different way in the upcoming draft.

Patricia and the Lions coaching staff coached the North squad at the Senior Bowl this year. This allowed the Lions to get a first-hand look at many interesting 2020 NFL Draft prospects and familiarize themselves with these players. Based on that week, the Detroit Lions will find themselves more familiar with those players and I would not be surprised to see a few of the North squad prospects land in Detroit. This is the first example of this happening.

Neville Gallimore is an extremely talented interior defensive lineman who shows an impressive combination of quickness and power on the inside. He has an explosive first step and shows the ability to get consistent upfield burst as both a run defender and pass rusher. Gallimore is a strong one-gap penetrator who can wreak havoc up front.

The interior defensive line is not the biggest need on the Lions’ roster, but it is a position where they could certainly use some talented bodies. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Lions make the position a priority by adding Gallimore early in the second round. This would be a great value selection for this team.
