Hakeem Adeniji – Offensive Tackle – Kansas

2019 Season Stats / Starts: 12

The Chicago Bears were dealt a blow this offseason when Pro Bowl offensive lineman Kyle Long announced that he would be stepping away from football. Struggling with inconsistent play this past season already, offensive line was a need to begin with.

Similarly to tight end, the Chicago Bears will more than likely address the offensive line on Day Two of the 2020 NFL Draft. If not, Kansas offensive lineman Hakeem Adeniji is a good player to stash and save.

Adeniji is a raw player, no question about that. Overall, he has a good athletic profile and moves well in space when run blocking. Despite a lack of play strength, Adeniji shows flashes of being able to get good hand placement on guys while keeping a lower center of gravity.

As mentioned previously, Adeniji is a bit of a project coming out of Kansas despite his tenure as a starter for the Jayhawks. While he played a good portion of his snaps at tackle for them, Adeniji snaps at guard during the 2020 Reece’s Senior Bowl. His athletic profile makes his projection at the NFL that more interesting since he could potentially either position.

This should be enticing for a team such as the Chicago Bears who have a need at right guard and will end up having a need at right tackle depending on what they do with Bobby Massie. The Chicago Bears could take Adeniji in the seventh round and potentially develop him into a capable starter.
