878. Tristan Wirfs. 1. OT. Iowa. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Arizona Cardinals recently signed offensive tackle, D.J Humphries, to a multi-year deal just last February. Unfortunately, that doesn’t erase the concern over the team’s overall offensive line play. They kept, forcing quarterback Kyler Murray to constantly display his Heisman mobility.

Pairing another talented offensive tackle with Humphries would be the stepping stone to getting this offense on track. This Arizona Cardinals offense is finally getting some of the pieces together and upgrading the protection up front would elevate their weapon’s (Murray and Drake) production. They need to focus on the foundation of modern-day NFL offenses that are the trenches.

I’ve had Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs going in the top ten of the 2020 NFL Draft since November. And rightfully so. Wirfs is a dominating blocker in the run game as he powers his way through the line of scrimmage with aid from his tremendous hand usage and grip strength. He is extremely athletic for his size and obtains the quickness to make those second-level blocks.

In terms of the passing game, Wirfs possesses great footwork hand placement and speed, making him the ideal choice to pull out on screen plays. Last week, Wirfs took strong advantage of his opportunity at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, showing off his athleticism and plethora of skills.

Wirfs had himself a record day at the combine that rose his already high first-round draft stock. He ran a 4.85 in the 40-yard dash and broke NFL offensive line combine records in both the vertical and broad jump. If the Giants and Panthers pass on Wirfs, then the Arizona Cardinals should be in prime position to select this freak athlete at No. 8 overall.
