Tristan Wirfs showed off his athleticism in a big way at the 2020 NFL Combine, raising his already high 2020 NFL Draft stock.

Entering the week, former Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs was already an extremely likely top-15 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. After his incredible performance at the NFL Combine on Friday night, his draft stock is about to be at an all-time high.

Wirfs started the week with strong measurement numbers. Coming in at 6-foot-5, 320 pounds with 34-inch arms and 10 1/4″ hands, he hit all the necessary size requirements to play offensive tackle at the next level. After his workout on Friday night, he showed that he also has more than enough athleticism to play the position.

Wirfs had arguably the greatest workout of any offensive lineman in the history of the NFL Combine on Friday night. It begins with his explosion numbers where Wirfs undoubtedly got the attention of every NFL scout. Wirfs posted an incredible 36.5-inch vertical jump, which is the best vertical of any offensive lineman in NFL combine history. His 10’1″ broad jump is also an NFL Combine record.

After that, Wirfs continued to impress with his speed. He put up a blazing 4.85 40-yard dash (which is the best of any offensive lineman in the 2020 NFL Draft class) and an impressive 1.69 10-yard split. As if that were not enough, Wirfs’ 7.65 performance in the three-cone was the fifth-best time in the OL group and his 4.68 in the 20-yard shuttle was only bested by six other offensive linemen.

To put it simply, Wirfs is far and away the most naturally athletic offensive lineman in the 2020 NFL Draft class. He put on a show in Indianapolis on Friday night and it is only going to help his draft stock.

The best part about his impressive testing is that Wirfs showed similar athleticism on tape. Wirfs is extremely quick off of the ball and does an incredible of moving in space. He is a powerful offensive lineman at the line of scrimmage, but Wirfs really shined on tape when he was asked to get out in space and attack the second level.

Wirfs was already one of the best offensive linemen in the 2020 NFL Draft class, but with this elite performance at the combine, the sky is the limit on his draft stock. At this point, I would not be surprised if Wirfs ends up being the top offensive lineman taken in the draft and going in the top five overall. He likely made himself some money on Friday night.
