Houston Texans 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: CB, OL addressed
Round 5, No. 153 Overall: Lamical Perine, RB, Florida
Running back is a major need for the Houston Texans, even if they bring back Carlos Hyde. It’s entirely possible they look into drafting one earlier than the fifth round. However, the class is deep this year, and getting someone who can make an impact on day three is very doable.
Here, Houston selects Lamical Perine out of Florida. Despite just modest production in his four years with the Gators, Perine has traits that NFL teams will like. Perine’s balance through contact is very good, and he’s got enough juice in open space to be a game-changer. Don’t forget about Perine’s ability as a receiver either. He’d be a nice fit in Houston.
Round 7, No. 217 Overall: Dane Jackson, CB, Pittsburgh
Double-dipping at the cornerback position for the Texans? At this point in the draft, it’s about finding the best available. Late in the seventh round, Houston finds Dane Jackson from Pitt. Jackson looked good at the Senior Bowl with his agility and footwork in coverage and should test pretty well at the combine later this month. Bring him in to challenge the current corners on the roster for a spot.
